Hi, my name is Chloe Jelley and I am a systematist and evolutionary biologist interested the intersection of ecology, behavior, and trait evolution. Ants are my study system of choice as they provide endless opportunities to ask questions regarding the origin and maintenance of biodiversity. I use mainly phylogenetic comparative methods to investigate patterns in trait diversity. I am currently a fourth year PhD candidate in the Entomology Department at Cornell University. I am advised by Dr. Corrie Moreau and a member of the Moreau Lab.
I am originally from Omaha, Nebraska but went to High School and Undergrad in New Jersey. I graduated from the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and the Albert Dorman Honors College with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in History in the spring of 2020. At NJIT, I was a member of the Barden Lab and advised by Dr. Phil Barden, where I worked on morphological trait evolution in ants. Additionally, I was a four year member of the Women's Cross Country and Track Teams.
Besides research, I love participating in outreach activities and I think interacting with others is the best part of being a scientist. Science is and should be for everyone. In my free time I like to hike, run, and spend time with my dog!
